In the quiet hills of Assisi, the air carries the scent of olive trees and ancient stone. Here, where St. Francis and St. Clare once walked barefoot in prayer, you’re invited to begin your own pilgrimage of peace. This journey isn’t about seeking more, but discovering the beauty of less—less striving, less noise, and more stillness, forgiveness, and joy. Over eight soulful days, you’ll walk sacred paths, share laughter and reflection with fellow pilgrims, and rediscover what St. Francis called “perfect joy”: a heart at rest in love.
You've felt it, haven't you? That deep inner pull to venture into something new and meaningful. Your ambition, curiosity, and spiritual longing nudges you to embark on a sacred journey.
You're about to step into unfamiliar territory. Leaving behind the comfort of what you know, you confront what lies ahead with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. New experiences unlock personal growth.
This is where your dedication to yourself comes into play. Prepare to embrace the excitement, step out of your comfort zone, and undergo transformation as you navigate the challenges of your inner journey.
You're now diving into the core of your pilgrimage. It's a time for deep reflection. Here, you'll seek answers, have meaningful conversations, and gain insights about yourself that will leave you astounded.
You've found it! The treasure you've been seeking. Be it a newfound self-awareness or the sheer joy of achieving something great, this is your moment to celebrate. It’s the culmination of all your efforts.
You're back home, but you've changed. You're returning with a fresh outlook, a rejuvenated spirit, and a treasure trove of stories. Now, it's time to integrate your newfound wisdom into your daily life.
Arrive in Rome and settle into the rhythm of pilgrimage. We’ll gather for our Welcome Orientation and open our hearts to the days ahead. This first evening marks a threshold—leaving behind the noise of ordinary life and stepping into sacred time. In the company of new friends, you’ll reflect on the longing that brought you here and the deeper purpose your soul is ready to awaken. The Franciscan path begins not with striving, but with surrender—a gentle “yes” to the journey unfolding within.
Travel to the peaceful monastery of San Damiano, nestled among olive groves and sun-warmed stone. Here, St. Francis heard the crucifix speak the words that changed his life: “Rebuild my church.” In this quiet sanctuary, where St. Clare later lived in devotion for 42 years, the air feels charged with grace. Surrounded by roses and silence, you’ll be invited to listen for your own call—to journal, pray, and rest in stillness as Spirit reveals what is ready to be rebuilt within you.
Our morning session focuses on seeing the divine woven through all creation. These teachings prepare your heart for a contemplative walk through the early days of Francis and Clare. We’ll wander through the Old Town and visit the Basilica of San Rufino, where both mystics were baptized. Pause in Santa Maria Maggiore, where Clare received her spiritual calling, and take in the radiant stillness of the Basilica of St. Clare. In small chapels, fragrant courtyards, and artisan shops, you’ll experience the Franciscan truth that everything, even hardship — can reveal God’s presence.
The day begins with a morning session on servant-hearted love and the call to embody compassion in action. We’ll reflect on becoming an instrument of peace in a world longing for gentleness. Walk an optional stretch of the ancient pilgrim path through the forest toward the majestic Basilica San Francesco, where Giotto’s frescoes bring Francis’s story to life. In this sacred space of awe and stillness, we’ll meditate on the prayer “Make me an instrument of your peace,” and feel how art, devotion, and love become one.
The day begins with a morning session on finding peace in nature and the freedom that comes from letting go. These reflections invite you to quiet your mind and listen for God’s voice in the stillness of your heart. Later, journey to the Hermitage of Carceri, a hidden sanctuary high above Assisi where Francis and his companions once sought solitude. Walk shaded trails, step into Francis’s tiny cave of prayer, and feel the deep, timeless peace of this sacred forest. In the evening, enjoy dinner in a favorite trattoria and the soft rhythm of Assisi by night.
Attend Lauds at San Damiano with the singing friars and nuns—an intimate and deeply moving experience. Their voices rise and fall in ancient harmony through the chapel where Francis once prayed. Later, retreat into nature’s cathedral, the sacred forest of Monteluco. Among towering ilex trees and birdsong, Francis and his companions built simple hermit cells and found joy in solitude. Walk the shaded paths in mindful silence and discover freedom in simplicity. That evening, dine with local friars and rest in the peace only nature can teach.
La Verna is the mountain sanctuary where St. Francis received the stigmata—a place that breathes silence, courage, and surrender. Surrounded by forest and mist, Francis faced his deepest fears and found union with divine love. We’ll reflect on how his experience reveals a way to meet our own wounds with compassion. As we walk forest trails etched with pilgrims’ crosses, vulnerability becomes strength. We’ll join the Procession of the Stigmata, a centuries-old ritual led by the friars. Voices rise in chant, carrying the presence of countless prayers through time.
The day begins with a closing morning session to gather the gifts of the pilgrimage and honor all that has been transformed within you. We’ll name the graces received and listen for how the journey continues beyond Assisi. Then we visit the Porziuncola, the humble chapel within the grand Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Here Francis founded the Franciscan Order, and Clare fled her privileged life to embrace devotion. Known as the Chapel of Forgiveness, this sanctuary offers deep peace of heart. In quiet prayer, we let their spirit bless our farewell.
